Local guide

Harefield sits at the northern tip of the London Borough of Hillingdon, eight miles north of Heathrow and just inside the M25. The village green at the High Street still anchors daily life, with the parish church, the Plough and the Kings Arms a short walk away. Buyers here are families priced out of Northwood, dog owners after real walking distance, and anyone trading commute time for square footage. Housing is mostly 1930s to 1960s detached and semi-detached stock, with pockets of older cottages around Church Hill and Park Lane and newer infill near Coppermill Lock. Harefield Hospital, the country's leading heart and lung centre, employs a large share of the workforce. Bayhurst Wood Country Park, Harefield Place and the Grand Union Canal towpath run straight from the back of the village.
Stock skews to three- and four-bed semis and detached family homes from the 1930s–60s, with period cottages on the High Street and Church Hill. Two-bed flats start around £260,000 (Peerless Drive). Mid-market semis run £450,000–£550,000 across Harvil Road, Newdigate Road and Broadwater Gardens. Detached homes on Hill End Road, Priory Avenue and Summerhouse Lane reach £700,000–£900,000+. You get noticeably more garden here than in Hillingdon or Ruislip for the same money.
Village schools include Harefield Infant, Harefield Junior and Harefield School (all Ofsted Good), with Outstanding-rated catchment options in neighbouring Ruislip and Northwood — Vyners School in Ickenham is also within reach. Bayhurst Wood Country Park covers 96 acres of ancient woodland, joined to the wider Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve. Harefield Place adds another 128 acres of former parkland. The Grand Union Canal towpath runs past Coppermill Lock to Denham. Village pubs include the Plough, the Kings Arms and the White Horse.
Harefield has no station of its own. The U9 bus runs every 20 minutes from the High Street and Harefield Hospital to Uxbridge tube (about 17 minutes), then the Metropolitan line to Baker Street in 40 minutes. The 331 connects to Ruislip and Northwood. M40 Junction 1 is four miles south, M25 Junction 17 three miles north, and Heathrow roughly a 25-minute drive. Denham's Chiltern Railways station is also within reach.
